No Tuesday Letter This Week!
Everyone in pop culture forgot to do anything interesting this week
Hi everyone! There will be no formal Tuesday Letter this week. I apologize for leaving you high and dry, but truthfully you should turn whatever and anger and disgust you feel towards me a cool 90 degrees toward your favorite celebrities for being boring this week! I’m not going to touch on the tragedy that happened on the set of Rust, but I do think you should know that if your first inclination in this situation was to make a shitty Alec Baldwin joke in a horrific, dire circumstance…you’ve got some reevaluating to do.
I will leave you with 3 things until next week, when we’ll be chatting in a proper edition:
Like “Easy on Me,” this ranking is well-intentioned but ultimately bland and at worse, woefully misguided. Sasha Fierce? The album that contains “Halo” being number one? And B’Day being all the way down at number three? I’m sorry but that simply doesn’t sit right with me.
I understand Adele is a ballads girlie, but there are much more interesting, compelling ballads to be found on an album like 4 than I Am…Sasha Fierce. I’m just really not sure who is choosing to listen to “Ave Maria” over, say, “I Care.” I’ve got my eye on you, Adele…
Next up, if you haven’t read the Friday letter, literally what’re you waiting for? It’s on track to become one of Top Shelf, Low Brow’s most-read pieces to date, and I’m so proud that it ended up being this article.
It was a joy to write and an even more immense joy to get to know Jeff Hammond, who is truly a kind and wonderful person and whose trust and candor has shed new light on I Know Who Killed Me, unquestionably enhancing its legacy forever.
Finally, if you’re looking for more Spooky content, I wrote this piece last year on Kim Petras’ Halloween albums and how queer people tend to understand darkness and make the most compelling macabre content because of their innate ability to understand what makes horror so fun. You can read it here!
Okay fine, one final thing. I’m obsessed with this audio after watching and loving American Crime Story: Impeachment. Catch me on the B Train listening to the full tapes like a podcast.
See you next week, love you! 💖
